HOW DOES THE GPS WORK
Kiran Adhikari and Antonio Yusta
Mr. Kiran Adhikari is a young researcher; in 2013 he was selected to attend the Astronomy research camp in Germany as well as the leader team of 2013,the grant committee has also awarded Mr Adhikari a scholarship worth 600 Euros, Only 60 young researchers from around the world were selected for the research program and Mr Adhikari was the only one to receive the €600 award.
During research camp he worked on Satellite Technology and Remote Sensing and his research was based on HOW DOES THE GPS WORK. His research paper tried to solve problems like:
1. How can we measure the position if the only
information we have is the distance between the satellite and the receiver?
2. How can we find
out the time when the signal was sent?
3.Are the clocks synchronized?
4. What about the
atmosphere, the background noise and the statistical offset?
5. And what is this
of "relativistic effects"?
Mr. Kiran Adhikari
is the Nepalese to work in the satellite technology field and his research
paper is a first for Nepal.
